Through a unique partnership with SCO Family of Services, Groundwork offers home and site based programs that give East New York families the tools they need to successfully nurture their infants and toddlers. These programs are proven to stimulate the cognitive development of young minds so that children are prepared to learn when they begin school and to strengthen the family relationships so critical to success in school and in life. Our early childhood programs also bring together parents of infants and toddlers, helping to form a supportive network of parents of same aged children. Our services include:

The Parent-Child Home Program
The Parent-Child Home Program is a nationally recognized, home based, pre-literacy program.  Through this program, trained Home Visitors work with select East New York families with children between the ages of two and four years old who face a variety of language and literacy barriers. Home visit occur twice each week, during which time the visitors introduce carefully selected toys and books into the household.  The visitors model play, verbal interaction and reading activities for both parents and children that help to create a language-rich home and promote positive parenting skills, preparing children to succeed in school.

Baby & Me
Baby & Me promotes nurturing attachments between parents and young children through the creative use of developmental playgroups.   These attachments are critical to the healthy development of infants and toddlers.  

Baby & Me offers children from birth through four years old and their parents a mix of structured and unstructured group activities that model stimulating and meaningful parent-child interaction. Typical Baby & Me activities include music, arts and crafts, storytelling, and local field trips. Baby & Me also includes facilitated discussion groups, which allow parents to teach and learn from one another and to share their experiences around issues ranging from toilet training and breast feeding to defusing sibling rivalries and selecting appropriate day care providers. 

Baby & Me is offered in six week cycles.  Activities take place at the Groundwork Success Center located at 692 Blake Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11207.
