Rich Buery's Op-Ed published in The Brooklyn Daily Eagle |
"I've spent my career working on behalf of the children and families of Brooklyn; the past six as the founder and executive director of Groundwork, a community-based organization that provides after-school, summer, and family support programs in eastern Brooklyn. The most significant obstacle we face in supporting our youth has been the ongoing and systematic failure of the New York City public school system. In 2002, the state legislature spoke for millions of frustrated parents, students, teachers, and community leaders when it decided that enough was enough and voted to make the mayor responsible for the New York City public schools."
