What's Happening at Groundwork for Success

Great News! Our Groundwork for Success students have been hard at work applying to colleges. This past year senors were paired with a Groundwork full-time employee who assisted them in identifying colleges and guided them through the admissions and financial aid process. Admitted schools include: Cornell University; University of Virginia; York College ; Lehman College ; Medgar Evers; LaGuardia Community College ; John Jay; Virginia State University ; Kingsboro College ; SUNY Cobleskill; SUNY Morrisville; SUNY Herkimer; and SUNY Canton.

Fresh Ground, a produce stand operated by Groundwork for Success participants serving the East New York community, was open for business during the Summer of 2006. Fresh Ground addresses the need for high quality, affordable fresh food in the community and provides summer employment to several GWS participants. The project teaches young people about business, entrepreneurship, and responsibility.

Fresh Ground was a feature story in the August 2, 2004 issue of the New York Sun.
